anyway! once atsushi has been stabilized in the pods, he'll wake to find that jiuqing is in the medbay. this isn't surprising, because she's been in and out of here since people first started coming back from their adventures.
she's got the first aid supplies set out and organized based on the injuries she observed before they went into the pods.]
Atsushi does feel bad. Jiuqing is working so hard, and he's just added to her workload. He's already feeling kind of low after the adventure he went on, but each time she stops to assist him or check on him he seems to sink lower into the bed.]
I'm fine, really. It doesn't even really hurt anymore.
[He says while she's bandaging up the stab wound in his chest.]
[He does! He can walk now, and he's removed the bandages. He's inspecting the new scars on his hands though as he frowns slightly. But when Jiuqing speaks up, he'll look up to her.]
I'm... alright. [a little shaken by the whole execution experience, but like. who wouldn't be shaken by that?] And you? ...it looks like your injuries have improved.
[hello, atsushi! jiuqing is checking out the food at the grocery store - much of it she's never seen before. she may or may not be gathering samples.
when she rounds a corner and comes across him, she smiles.]
Oh - hello. Have you come to look for food as well?
[but then, very rudely, a memshare bubble catches them. jiuqing is startled for a moment, and then she sighs.]
This again... well, let's hope it makes it quick.
[knowing by now that the only way out of these things is through them, she puts a hand to the bubble and concentrates. the bubble glows with a soft, metallic color - and then amemory starts.
Atsushi doesn't even have time to answer her question before they're trapped, and he's left looking confused and a little worried as her memory starts to play out. Instantly he is finding reasons to object to it.]
Eh? That- what a jerk! You can't force that one someone like that!
Since like week two...b-but that doesn't matter! She- she's asking questions now and I can't answer them! I thought everything was alright but it was like she could feel what I was feeling and then things got weird!
[Fun fact: Atsushi feels about as anxious as he looks. All the time. There will be a constant undercurrent of anxiety throughout this entire conversation.]
The small realm is mostly dark, with the only light coming from a set of stained glass windows. There's no visible furniture in the room, and in fact the only detail that can be seen is that there is some kind of wood floor here.
Atsushi is sitting in the center of the lit up area, with his knees drawn up to his chest.]
Hey.
[He gives her a tired smile.]
You know, I tried to treat the burns myself. It's really hard to do though, especially since I just tried covering them all up with bandaids.
[That's going to hurt when he rips them all off. Maybe he'll leave those lisa frank monstrosities on his arms until he dies.]
[Me, just now remembering how sad their last few PCs were.
Anyway, Atsushi has curled up with a stack of books and will be reading all about Sherlock Holmes in-between visits from other people. Though when Jiuqing shows up he'll set the book aside so he can be a good host.]

[there's no reason why he should spend what might be his last night here in pain.
(but she can't help but hope - maybe it won't be his last night. he chose combat, and she's only seen people die in execution. maybe he'll be okay.)]
