During the entire trial November had been pretty serious in general, cooperating and treating everything with the gravity it deserved. No joking, no unnecessary comments...he was completely alert and cooperative. He had to check everything and figure out what was going on and what it meant for the future. Now that he had a general idea, he had stuff to work with.
First things first: guarantee he would be in top shape no matter what]
i was looking for you, Su.
[It's great she's at the medbay. It's fitting for what he wants to ask]
I have taken the decision to undergo treatment in the pods -- although not tonight, for obvious reasons.
[While some would interpret that as, you know, being wary because Ryunosuke was found in one, it's mostly so others can use them before he does. His case is not urgent, after all...
...
...probably. He's not dropping dead even though he probably should given how bad those wounds were before arriving to the Prism. Better take advantage of the healing pods to ensure said wounds won't cause trouble in the future, though]
Having someone reliable nearby just in case would be a relief. I'm aware asking for you to stay the full eight hours is unreasonable, so just making sure I don't disintegrate upon the first hour or two will be enough.
Sleeping here doesn't seem safe. While I'm sure you can defend yourself and aren't taking this decision lightly, do you really want to leave yourself in the open like this?
[It will suck if they find Jiuqing lying dead in the medbay in like two days. Oh well]
Alright, that works for me. Monitoring my state all that time would be good -- these are injuries that weren't acquired here in this realm. Perhaps there will be unexpected effects.
If you would like, I can give you a checkup before you get in and document your injuries and the state of them. Then we can compare that to the state you're in once you're done with the pod.
[she's a doctor, though! she might be concerned for any injuries she sees, but it's not going to shock or horrify her the same way it might someone else. while he deals with his clothes, she'll pull her notebook out of her bag so she can take notes.]
There's a number of wounds on his torso, all of them in process of healing naturally...as much as they can without extensive attention, truthfully. No sutures, no bandaging...November is pretty much held together with metaphorical duct tape and gum, thanks to the Prism halting his death upon arrival. Nothing is bleeding and there's definitely no sign of infection, but clearly it's not going to heal without attention of some sort.
They seem to have been made with projectiles of considerable caliber, all of the wounds reaching pretty deep. None of them crossed his body, it seems, and they're all over the front and the back. Are you familiar with bullets, Jiuqing?
Some of the wounds still have bullets inside -- pretty much those where the presence of a projectile wouldn't impede his continued survival. Several organs were obviously compromised, but nothing seem to have been fatal. His death was due to bleeding out, really.
All in all, this man shouldn't be alive right now. The Prism is pretty much the only thing that saved his life]
[i was about to bookmark this so i could refer back to it to confirm whether she had or hadn't seen any of these before but then i realized the healing pods might actually get rid of them.
anyway.
she is from a historical canon and she is not, in fact, familiar with bullets! she's familiar with arrows, which don't leave the same sorts of wounds. her brows knit together as she tries to imagine what sort of projectiles could have left those wounds, and then furrow further as she spots one that still has a bullet in it. (unless it's healed over and the skin is covering it? help.)
she doesn't say much, but she very studiously takes note of each and every injury she sees. she takes meticulous notes. she even does a quick sketch of a vaguely person-looking form, numbers each of the wounds, and assigns the same number to each description.]
[Jiuqing taking notes certainly gets approval from November]
Is it as bad as I thought?
[...he kind of hopes the answer is yes because if the answer is no then it makes him look bad. This all killed him, after all! It better be incredibly lethal beause anything less is an affront!]
It's a plan. I'll be here, so just let me know when you're ready.
[...]
If the pod doesn't fix it because it's something from before you came here, I can probably help treat your injuries. They're severe, but you haven't died of them, so I can at least help speed the recovery process along.
[honestly i don't know if they have the concept of doctor-patient confidentiality in her canon]
I won't go telling everyone about it. But I might share my notes with Sir Chang, if that would be alright with you. He's a doctor as well, so he can help you with your injuries if I'm not available.
[Having received kindness from someone feels like flimsy reasoning to trust someone, in his opinion. At least he keeps that thought to himself, unwilling to go and scold someone else for her opinion]
I suppose you can tell him.
[Mostly because of a more pragmatic reason: if something does happen to Jiuqing, then Chang would have to take the mantle as the doctor around here. Better make sure he's informed about this, yup]
Even if the pods do heal your wounds... it'd be good to have someone know what was there before. We don't know that there won't be complications from the pods down the line.
[like damn they can't see what's going on inside. maybe the fixing up is all surface level? she doesn't know!!]

I have a favor to ask of you.

What do you need?

To be honest, I was planning to start sleeping in here anyway. There are plenty of beds.
[this way, there will be a doctor on hand in case someone does something stupid and gets hurt in the middle of the night!]
So, staying the whole eight hours isn't as unreasonable as you think. I'd be glad to keep an eye on things.

Sleeping here doesn't seem safe. While I'm sure you can defend yourself and aren't taking this decision lightly, do you really want to leave yourself in the open like this?
[The doctors can be reached via text!]

I have my reasons not to be concerned about that. Don't worry.

[Effects Jiuqing probably can handle, he hopes]

I suppose there is only one way to find out.
If you would like, I can give you a checkup before you get in and document your injuries and the state of them. Then we can compare that to the state you're in once you're done with the pod.

Not a bad idea. I should warn you this is going to be unpleasant -- but don't fret about how bad they seem to be. I'm currently alive, after all.
[He begins unbuttoning the coat of his suit while saying that]

Understood.

[........this was going to be a gagtag but you know on second thought i'm keeping it]
no subject
I thought so.
[He reaches for his shirt and coat]
I'll spend the full eight hours in those pods in a day or two. If I have lived this far then waiting a little longer should be no issue.
[And if he dies before being able to heal, well, that's how it is. No regrets, really]

[While he puts on the clothes he had taken off, he adds:]
By the way, I assume this is covered by confidentiality of some sort. I'd rather people to be generally unaware I'm on the verge of death.
[Mostly because it'd lead to them asking questions about how it even happened and that's just a can of worms]
