If it's been like this for so long, it must seem normal to people from your world...

The sky here still seems... wrong, to me. Though I guess it's normal for everyone else.

The sky here does seem normal to me, yes. And I'm sure it does to the others too... it must be strange to see it like this when you're used to...

[she gestures up at the red sky.]

[she nods, but...]

I do not mind it, though.

[looks up at the sky again...]

It's a pretty shade of red.

The ash is not as nice, but...

...it wouldn't be so bad to see skies like this all the time without the ash. It's like a sunset.

[she nods.]

I think you would like the mists, too. They are not so bad.

What are they like?

[hmmm. she walks over to the panel and puts her hand on, and the scene shifts to a city street at night, thin strands of mist hanging in the air.]

Oh...

[she reaches out to pass a hand through some of the strands of mist? hello?]

[they feel cold and wet!]

They happen every night. Some people are superstitious about them, but... I've always liked them.

[countermeasures]

They seem sort of... peaceful?

[allomantic]

[she nods]

They were good cover, too, when we needed it.

...and if other people weren't that fond of them, hiding in them would be even more effective!

[allomantic]

[she nods!]

We mostly moved through the air, too, so people down below in their homes had trouble seeing us.

Through the air... by jumping? Or flying?

Flying, kind of, but - oh, have I not told you about allomancy yet?

[she shakes her head...]

I know you were... taught about it, by that man in your memory. But that's all I know, really.

[allomantic]

[she nods]

It's a system of power, basically... We use different metals to create different effects. Steel lets you push against other metals, so - for example, if you were to drop a coin on the ground and push against it, since the ground is much larger and heavier than I am, I would get pushed back or into the air.

[countermeasures]

Oh... how interesting! And there are a lot of different types of metals, so there must be many things you're able to do...

[allomantic]

[she nods!]

I think atium is my favorite, though it's the most rare. It allows you to see several moments into the future when you are fighting someone, enough to anticipate your opponent's next move. It isn't as useful if you can't use the other metals to fight against that strike, but...

Even if there aren't other metals you can use, it will still give you something to work with. Knowing what your enemy's action will be can be incredibly valuable!

If they have pewter, you can't necessarily move in time to stop their actions even if you can foresee them, but... In nearly all other situations, it is incredibly useful. I imagine that is why it is the rarest by far.
