[ she's not surprised to see jiuqing here, she figured it'd be here or the medbay. but she's glad to find her regardless.

ruby doesn't say anything upon walking in, just picks up a watering can and goes right to watering the plants that need it. she's managed to retain what jiuqing taught her the week before.

after a while she breaks the silence, though quietly: ]

I see the ones we plated last week are doing well, that's good...guess I didn't mess them up.

[ she wants to get closer, because touch week, but also because she's still concerned and being near a friend always helps her...but she keeps a bit of space between them. ]

Of course you didn't... you did very well.

[jiuqing recognizes ruby's voice, and she waves her over to come crouch down next to her. she's working with the planter of lemon balm right now, carefully harvesting it and bundling it to store.]

Would you like me to show you how to harvest them?

[ hearing jiuqing responds puts ruby at ease, immediately, a small smile coming to her face. and when she's waved over she goes! crouching down next to her. ]

That would be great, please.

[ while she is relieved by this interaction, she is still very concerned and trying to find the right time to ask...for now she will let the gardening do the talking. ]

[she's pretty focused on the task! but hey, it's good to keep busy, right? ha ha.]

See these leaves? [she indicates a spot on the stem just a bit past where the leaves have sprouted.] We'll want to snap them off here for use.

Not all of them, though. They're best used fresh, though I can dry some for use in powdered medications. And we'll want to leave enough that the plant can keep growing, so we can harvest more later.

[ nods, paying very close attention ]

Plants really are amazing. [ she will do as instructed! very thankful it goes well. and she will place it wherever jiuqing is collecting them. ]

Do you make medicine yourself a lot, back home?

[ busy busy busy! ]

Yes.

[she smiles, keeping busy. i am not writing this out because i don't actually knw shit about plant harvesting.]

I studied herbal medicines extensively with my master. The medicines I prescribe in my clinic are all prepared by me.

ruby pays close attention! nodding along. ]

That's a really good skill to have, especially for you, being a doctor and all. It shows just how much you care about your patients.
