[hello, ruby! their first trip to the closet was nicer. after the trial, this one is a little more somber. jiuquing is picking through some white dresses and skirts, her expression contemplative, but she looks up when she hears footsteps.]

—Miss Rose.

[ the mood in this closet is vastly different from earlier in the week.

there's a frown on her face, her brow kind of knitted. she doesn't notice jiuqing at first, but when she hears her name she looks up. ]

Oh, Jiuqing...sorry I didn't see you at first.

[ she goes over and starts picking through the racks, not really looking for anything in particular. ]

It's alright... I wasn't making much noise.

[...]

Looking for something new...?

Uh. Maybe! I am covered in glitter, so it'd be nice to not be...anymore.

[ while she usually wouldn't mind, this is murder glitter...not a big fan of that.

she ducks down and looks at the bottom of the racks, pushing things aside to try and get a better look behind everything. nothing is there! just shoes and clothes!!

sighs. and mutters to herself:] If anything else was here, it'd be gone now...

Let's see if we can find anything in your style, then...

[she starts looking through some of the clothe again, but -

ah.]

...looking for more evidence, too?

[ she freezes where she is.

caught. ]

...yes. [ sighs and sits back on her knees. ] But just like every week, it's all gone. Everything is back to how it was before thursday night...

[she smiles a little sadly]

...I'd hoped to find something at the cemetery, as well, but I had no luck. It's unfortunate.

But I think it's good that you haven't given up, Miss Rose.

[ she looks back at jiuqing, frowning ]

I just can't help but feel like we missed something. If we had just had one extra hour, I think we could have caught 9S' killer too...

[ sighs and gets back up on her feet. ]

It's like we failed him, in not catching the killer. Just knowing who it was...

Knowing would make things feel... a little easier, I think.

[or - who knows? the potentials, from the overlap between the clothing and the handprint, weren't great. maybe it would feel worse. but at least they would have known.

they can't make any sort of informed decisions about how to handle his killer, if they don't know.]

I wish we knew who it was. I don't much like feeling like we've failed.

[ she nods, agreeing with that wholeheartedly.

she sure does keep thinking about that overlap...hateful. ]

I feel like I might have an idea, but even if it was right, what would we do with them? And wouldn't that just put a giant target on their back?

[ frowns ]

They must have been under some sort of compulsion, just like before...

...if they were under some sort of compulsion, Miss Rose, it's possible... they might still be a danger to themselves and to others.

[what if... they strike again...]

If there were some way to know for sure... I don't know what we would do, but we could certainly keep a close watch.

That's true...this is new to us, having two killers...

[ they don't know if the compulsion wears off, if the culprit isn't caught. ]

Bubblegum has been suggesting a dungeon since day one...even a jail of some kind might be worth considering...not that I much like the idea myself, but at least having a place where we can keep close watch on them...

[jiuqing purses her lips.

she's not fond of dungeons or prisons because (redacted), but bubblegum does have a point. maybe if they create a place to keep people who pose a danger to the group, they'll be given options other than "combat" or "execution" when they catch a culprit.]

I don't much like it either, but it's better than the alternatives.

ruby would agree with being able to have a third option, but alas... ]

You think it would even let us have that, as an option I mean? Sometimes I wonder if these deaths and what not are a form of sacrifice...for whatever reason, I don't know, but...

[she wishes she knew, but she just doesn't.]

It would be nice if it would. But, perhaps it wants blood to be repaid in blood. Still... we don't really have any sort of secure holding area now. Perhaps if we can make one, it would nudge this place into allowing us to make use of it.

[ there is so much they don't know, even with the notes and things popping up...it's like one giant puzzle, with the pieces scattered about. hidden. ]

An eye for an eye...[ hateful ] And that's a good point, after all, all we can do is try, right? Who knows what could happen.

[ she says that and immediately thinks "probably nothing good..." ]

If we're lucky, it might be the solution we're looking for.
