...the first gumball I had was also orange, and the week I had it, I could use amber then, too. But those are the only two I've received. I didn't experiment with it on a week when I couldn't.

Yeah... We'd have to ask around a little more, but I know Buzen's gumball was green like his floor and Yasusada got an orange one when he could use amber, too. Might be that only people who use amber can get those three-token orange gumballs...

Mm... I dunno. When you use the whale thingy, I think it reacts to what you want. So maybe the gumballs are like that, too? Or maybe it's just the prism giving you what it thinks you need.
