[she nods after a moment, her vibe dipping a little bit lower.]

It would be better if none of this had started in the first place.

It would be. But... I don't know how anyone could have predicted this would happen.

That's true.

[but there's a rising sense of frustration anyways.]

But I dislike feeling like there's so little we can do, even after all this time.

I do, too.

[that frustration is echoed back at her. jiuqing frowns, jabbing a spade into a planter to loosen some of the soil there.]

How long is this meant to go on?

I hope it will not be much longer.

[even though there's something bittersweet in her feelings as she says that.]

We've learned much, but... It feels like little, at the same time.

Each week we learn a little more.

[she's like - vaguely hopeful, but a little doubtful, too. will it be enough? will they learn what they need to fast enough, to prevent more bloodshed? she wants to believe they will.]

...eventually, we'll put it together and it will be enough.

[she nods for a moment, but:]

I don't want to be, though. I keep hoping if I say it enough times I'll be more certain of it.
