perhaps i am overthinking this but
he once mentioned ectoplasm to me and in my reading i have seen that relate to ghosts
and in the vision i saw the person appeared above itsuki suddenly
what if it wasn't mind control, exactly?
if he has familiarity with ghosts, perhaps he was inspired to ask for some sort of possession gumball?

Thinking about it, though... There's something that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Why did that other person crush Kagami-san's 2 token gumball but not the other one?

last week itsuki said he had two gumballs, one from our adventure and one from the machine
you'd think they would have realized that would mean he would have a third after this week, but...
if the culprit was refracting maybe they weren't thinking clearly

I assume they did not count on us noticing Itsuki did it himself. They were trying to create confusion and obscure the truth, and likely did not know what his gumballs did; they simply took the first one they found to try to make it seem used.
